The aim of the G17 network is to highlight and present applicable solutions in order to encourage more companies, architects, engineers, and cities to use these examples as an impulse to start concrete actions.
In the construction society there is a general awareness of the comprehensive responsibility it represents with regards to resource consumption, carbon emissions and waste generation. Despite all the good intentions appropriate sustainable actions are either inadequate or missing.
In this highly diverse sector there is an urgent need to collaborate also across borders of sectors and countries. We need to shift the present conversations on sustainability away from just signing pledges and discussing existing problems towards showcasing and developing suitable scalable solutions together.
Cooperation Creates Strength
For this reason, six European Green Building Councils have formed the G17 network. It follows the powerful message of United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) “Partnership for the Goals”: A stronger commitment to partnership and cooperation is needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. That effort will require coherent policies, an enabling environment for sustainable development at all levels and by all actors, and a reinvigorated Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
